VueSpeed gebruikt vier methoden om ritten te detecteren:
Je hoeft de app niet actief te openen — zolang VueSpeed op de achtergrond draait en locatietoegang heeft, registreert hij je rit.
Het stoppen werkt op dezelfde manier als het starten:
Na het stoppen wordt de rit automatisch opgeslagen in je ritgeschiedenis.
Op het dashboard en in de ritdetails zie je labels die aangeven hoe de rit is gestart en gestopt:
In de ritdetails staan de start- en stoptrigger bij de tijdlijn, zodat je kunt zien waardoor elke rit begon en eindigde.
Ja. Op het dashboard vind je een startknop waarmee je een rit handmatig kunt beginnen, ook als de automatische detectie nog niet heeft ingeschakeld. Stoppen kan eveneens handmatig via de stopknop. In de ritgeschiedenis wordt dit weergegeven met het label Handmatig.
Met de gratis versie van VueSpeed kun je maximaal 25 ritten opslaan. Zodra dit limiet bereikt wordt, wordt je gevraagd om te upgraden naar VueSpeed Pro voor onbeperkte ritopslag.
Per rit zie je:
VueSpeed gebruikt GPS voor snelheidsmeting. Bij goed GPS-signaal is de gemeten snelheid doorgaans nauwkeurig tot ±2 km/u. In tunnels, tussen hoge gebouwen of bij slecht weer kan de nauwkeurigheid afnemen.
De app is geen vervanging van de snelheidsmeter in je voertuig en niet bedoeld voor gebruik waarbij absolute nauwkeurigheid vereist is.
VueSpeed Pro haalt snelheidslimieten op via TomTom — een van de meest uitgebreide en actuele databronnen voor wegdata wereldwijd.
De gratis versie toont een basisversie van snelheidslimieten via een alternatieve kaartbron. Deze is minder volledig en wordt minder frequent bijgewerkt.
Dynamische limieten (matrixborden op snelwegen) worden niet ondersteund.
Zelfs de beste kaartdatabronnen zijn niet altijd volledig of actueel — met name op lokale wegen, woonerven of recent gewijzigde zones kan de limiet ontbreken of onjuist zijn.
Je kunt in de instellingen een handmatige standaardlimiet instellen die wordt gebruikt wanneer er geen limiet beschikbaar is.
Als Pro-gebruiker kun je een drempelwaarde instellen waarboven VueSpeed je waarschuwt. Zodra je snelheid de ingestelde limiet met die drempelwaarde overschrijdt, geeft de app een visuele en/of hoorbare melding.
Je stelt de waarschuwing in via Instellingen → Snelheidswaarschuwing.
VueSpeed biedt twee GPS-precisiemodi:

VueSpeed Pro geeft je toegang tot:
VueSpeed Pro is beschikbaar als eenmalige aankoop (lifetime). Je betaalt één keer en hebt permanent toegang, ook op toekomstige versies van de app.
Open de app na herinstallatie en tik op Aankopen herstellen onderaan het Pro-scherm. Je aankoop wordt automatisch herkend via je App Store- of Google Play-account. Je hoeft niet opnieuw te betalen.
Ja. Je Pro-aankoop is gekoppeld aan je Apple ID of Google-account en geldt voor alle toestellen waarop je met dat account bent ingelogd. Gebruik de hersteloptie op elk nieuw toestel.
Nee. Al je ritgegevens worden uitsluitend lokaal op je eigen toestel opgeslagen. Er is geen server, geen account en geen cloud-synchronisatie. Zie ook ons privacybeleid.
Als je de app verwijdert, worden alle lokaal opgeslagen ritgegevens en instellingen permanent gewist. Er is geen cloud-backup, dus dit is niet terug te draaien. Je Pro-aankoop blijft wel bewaard in je App Store- of Google Play-account en kan worden hersteld na herinstallatie.
Nee. VueSpeed gebruikt je locatie alleen om snelheid, route en snelheidslimieten te bepalen. Locatiedata wordt niet gedeeld met derden en niet naar externe servers verstuurd.
In HUD-modus (Head-Up Display) wordt het scherm horizontaal gespiegeld en de helderheid op maximum gezet. Leg je telefoon plat op het dashboard met het scherm naar boven gericht. De cijfers worden via de voorruit als spiegelschrift zichtbaar, zodat je je blik op de weg kunt houden.
Dit werkt het best bij weinig omgevingslicht of met een donkere achtergrond in de auto.
De nachtmodus past de weergave aan voor gebruik in het donker: lager contrast en minder felle kleuren om je ogen te ontzien. Je kunt de nachtmodus handmatig inschakelen of instellen dat hij automatisch activeert op basis van het omgevingslicht.
Het hoofddashboard toont in één oogopslag:
GPS-gebruik kost altijd batterij, vergelijkbaar met een navigatie-app. De hoeveelheid hangt af van je gekozen GPS-precisie. Bij de lage precisie-instelling valt het verbruik mee voor normale ritten.
Voor langere ritten raden we aan je telefoon aan te sluiten op de autolader.
Ja. VueSpeed is beschikbaar voor zowel iOS als Android. De Android-versie biedt dezelfde kernfuncties als de iOS-versie. Beide zijn te downloaden via de respectievelijke app stores.
Voor snelheidsmeting en ritregistratie heb je geen internet nodig. Voor het ophalen van snelheidslimieten is een actieve verbinding wel vereist. Zonder internet toont de app de handmatig ingestelde standaardlimiet (indien geconfigureerd).

You don't need to open the app actively — as long as VueSpeed is running in the background with location access, it records your trip.

In trip details, the start and stop trigger are shown in the timeline, so you can see what caused each trip to begin and end.
Yes. The dashboard has a start button to begin a trip manually, even if automatic detection hasn't triggered yet. You can also stop any trip manually using the stop button. In your trip history, this is shown with the Manual label.
The free version of VueSpeed lets you store up to 25 trips. Once this limit is reached, you'll be prompted to upgrade to VueSpeed Pro for unlimited trip storage.
Each trip shows:
VueSpeed uses GPS for speed measurement. With good GPS signal, accuracy is typically within ±2 km/h. Accuracy may decrease in tunnels, between tall buildings, or in poor weather.
The app is not a replacement for your vehicle's speedometer and is not intended for use where absolute precision is required.
VueSpeed Pro fetches speed limits via TomTom — one of the most comprehensive and up-to-date road data sources available.
The free version shows a basic version of speed limits from an alternative map source, which is less complete and updated less frequently.
Dynamic speed limits (variable signs on motorways) are not supported.
Even the best map data sources are not always complete or up to date — especially on local roads, residential zones, or recently changed areas.
You can set a manual default limit in settings that is used when no limit is available.
As a Pro user, you can set a threshold above which VueSpeed alerts you. When your speed exceeds the current limit by that margin, the app shows a visual and/or audible warning.

VueSpeed offers two GPS precision modes:

VueSpeed Pro is a one-time purchase (lifetime). Pay once and keep access permanently, including future app updates.
After reinstalling, open the app and tap Restore purchases at the bottom of the Pro screen. Your purchase will be automatically recognised via your App Store or Google Play account. No need to pay again.
Yes. Your Pro purchase is tied to your Apple ID or Google account and applies to all devices signed in with that account. Use the restore option on each new device.
No. All trip data is stored exclusively on your device. There is no server, no account, and no cloud sync. See our privacy policy.
Deleting the app permanently erases all locally stored trips and settings. There is no cloud backup, so this cannot be undone. Your Pro purchase remains saved in your App Store or Google Play account and can be restored after reinstalling.
No. VueSpeed only uses your location to determine speed, route, and speed limits. Location data is never shared with third parties or sent to external servers.
In HUD (Head-Up Display) mode, the screen is mirrored horizontally and brightness is set to maximum. Place your phone flat on the dashboard with the screen facing up. The numbers are reflected onto your windshield so you can keep your eyes on the road.
Works best in low ambient light or with a dark car interior.
Night mode adjusts the display for use in the dark: lower contrast and softer colours to reduce eye strain. You can switch it on manually or set it to activate automatically based on ambient light.
The main dashboard shows at a glance:
GPS always consumes battery, similar to a navigation app. The amount depends on your chosen GPS precision. At the low precision setting, usage is reasonable for typical drives.
For longer trips, we recommend plugging your phone into the car charger.
Yes. VueSpeed is available for both iOS and Android. The Android version offers the same core features as the iOS version. Download from the respective app stores.
Speed measurement and trip recording work without internet. An active connection is required to fetch speed limits. Without internet, the app falls back to the manually configured default limit (if set).
